As a
Dartmouth Class of 1977, Tuck 80, I was extremely upset to learn that
Dartmouth
College
was discontinuing the Swimming
& Diving Teams. In my freshman and sophomore years I swam for
Dartmouth
. I was never a star, but by
participating I benefited enormously in many ways. It was an integral part of
the
Dartmouth
experience for me. I am sorry that
future men and women are losing that opportunity and would ask you to reconsider
your decision.
As a loyal
supporter of
Dartmouth
and Tuck, I do not base my giving
or support for the College on any one issue. I am writing simply to ask you to
reconsider what I believe is a mistake. The smaller sports are in many ways more
important to
Dartmouth
than the large revenue (and cost)
sports. Surely there should be room at
Dartmouth
for Swimming and Diving.
