My name is Rowdy Gaines and I was fortunate enough to have won 3 gold medals in the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. I visited the campus of Dartmouth a few years ago and was so very impressed with the swimmers and their desire to excel both in the water and in the classroom. It saddens me that a sport that teaches these young men and women so much about what it takes to be successful in life is being taken away from them.
