Hello Dartmouth Swimming and Diving,

The news of the elimination of Dartmouth swimming and Diving is simply
tragic. The academic opportunities at Dartmouth are without question
among the best in the world. To preclude young, intelligent
student-athletes, who happen to love their participation in the
competitive sport of swimming and diving, from being able to access
these academic and athletic opportunities is heartbreaking.
To think that future Dartmouth graduates, much like former divers Ms.
Courtney DuBois and Ms. Danielle Fritze, will be denied the opportunity
to seek both academic and athletic notoriety while attending Dartmouth
is difficult to comprehend.

Today is a sad day indeed. There are a large number of intelligent,
ambitious young men and women in the United States of America
participating in the sport of swimming and diving who seek the
opportunity to challenge themselves academically and athletically. As
you know, there are very few academic institutions in the world that can
provide an exceptional combination of academic and athletic opportunity
to undergraduate age students. Dartmouth is one of these few. I urge
you to reconsider this decision and continue your support for these
opportunities at Dartmouth.

Sincerely,

Gregory Gunn
